Hi,
I am having the following error whenv viewing report layout in NAV 2009-->
The application for project
c:\Users\AUser\AppData\Local\Temp\Microsoft Dynamics
Nav\ReportXXXXX(0)\ReportLayout is not installed.
Make sure the application for the project type() is installed.
I know that this error has been mentioned many times before in this forum, and was solved many times too. All solutions point to installing Visual Web developer 2008 express with report add-in. When I tried to search in Microsoft for this, it points me to Visual Web Developer 2010 express. And I read somewhere in other forums that Visual Web developer 2010 express does not come report viewer. And only higher paid-for versions come with the report viewer.
Has any successfully edit report layouts in NAV 2009 using MS visual web developer 2010? Failing that, can any1 provide me with a link to download MS visual web developer 2008 with report add-in.

Yes. I clicked on 2008 Report Viewer in the folder Prequisite Components, and select REPAIR option, and still the same error occurs. When viewing report layout, it opens into MS Visual Studio with the same error.
if in client-server connection, have you installed report viever in client machine also?

This is a local system. When installing NAV 2009, I chose the Demo option. I think this option installs everything in 1 computer.

I'm also offering RDLC Report Training, ping me if you are interested. Thanks to the 700 NAV developers that have now already been at my training. You know you can always call if you have any RDLC report issues :-)
Thanks for your reply. At least that clears something in the air. Now the question would be where could I get a copy of visual web developer 2008 express? Actually I have been out of touch with the latest version of NAV, and I plan to take the exam soon, so I want to have all the tools ready before I do so.
1 more comment I want to add to this... actually, I am in the gray as to how NAV reports integrate into the visual web developer 2008 express, and all these different visual studio components are really confusing. How I wish we could stick back to 1 integrated development environment... the NAV Object designer... that would be sweet!

This will include a version of VS which can edit the RDLC reports we have in NAV 2009.
I cannot talk much about next version but I can say that the development environment will be simplified dramatically when creating RDLC reports.
Also the investment you do now by creating RDLC reports we be secured when moving to next version.

The link you posted are to SQL Server 2008 express. Actually I think I am due for an upgrade on my notebook and some software. So if I were to get a SQL Server on my notebook for dev purposes, do you think SQL Server 2008 standard edition would do? Will I be able to edit reports with that version?
