Until now the client was using SN specific item tracking (everything checked on the "Serial No." tab except "SN Warehouse tracking") with no major problems. Now they want to start using the warehouse part of NAV which is also ok. But, if they want to register the serial numbers in the Put or Pick documents the "SN Warehouse tracking" option must be enabled. Since all of the items already have ledger entries NAV refuses to allow that option. This is weird because this option only affects specific warehouse documents and warehouse entries which do not yet exist. Also, all of the items will be transferred to a new location which is warehouse enabled so there really is no need for NAV to check only the item ledger entries without considering those facts.
Did anyone come across this problem and maybe solved it? Appreciate it!

is there a way to turn on item tracking without having to start over with a brand new item number?
