Hi,
We have three tier Dynamics NAV 2009 SP1 setup that works fine. We can connect to the database from all domain computers using the classic client and RTC. There is just one thing we cannot get to work and that is to login using RTC from laptops that are not in the domain. And that is what we want since all our corporate laptop are not part of our domain.
They can ofcourse access the network either bij LAN or VPN.
Does anybody have a How To on how to get this working? I've look all over Mibuso and Internet but can not find any.
Thanks in advance,
Bas Nieuwenhuizen

You need to use the 2009 R2 executables. One of the feature they've added is that if you are not on domain, it opens a login window for the user to enter login and password to authenticate.

Great, thanks. Are there no contra's to using both the R1 and R2 executables in one environment?

All the client and service tier need to be on same version. So all clients need to do exe upgrade.

In that case it is not an option for us. At this time our Solution Provider only supports their solution on 2009 SP1 not on R2.
Is there anotoher way to get this to work? A database login instead of a Windows Login maybe?

    I hope someone knows...

All you need to do is a so called 'Technical Upgrade'. You install the R2 executables for the NAV server and all the clients and convert the database to the new version. The functionality (objects) in your database keep their 2009 SP1 status.

Please consult with your solution provider before doing this, they may be interested in knowing about it ;)
