Dimension based restriction

Hi guys,
here I am facing a daunting task where in the client requires the customer / vendor to be restricted based on the dimension as it has been alloted; thereby all the transaction that has to happen will be associated on to the end user (means that that perticular user is allowed to see the Customer/ Vendor based on the restriction imposed). Here i have gone thru the resposiblity center ( that can limit the things at the transaction level in sales and purchase ) and also applying the security filter (which is then hardcoded) . The task it seems is quite laborious as new roles have to be defined for each of the user present .
Can any body suggest some suitable and less time consuming method
