Regarding Transfer Order

Can anyone plz share what is the purpose of the Field "Derived from Line No." in transfer Line.
What it does actually & how it is used by the system?

When a Transfer Order is derived from a Production Order, the Prod Order Line No will be updated in the field.

A transfer order has to be posted twice: shipment and reception.
When a shipment is posted, the system creates a second line related to the first one (through that field). That second line is used internally when posting the reception.
The user never sees that second line, as it is filtered away on the subform.
