Automatic conversion of QTY to alternative UOM

Hi everyone
Just a quick question, hopefully someone will know this.

I have UOM's setup in NAV at the moment but for ease of use (since most products have a different UOM quantity set) would it be possible for the quantity entered into sales orders/quotes to be automatically converted into the respective UOM?

For example, a product has three UOMs:
Name - QTY
Single - 1
Pack - 10
Carton - 60

If I create a sales order, and type for example 143 as the order quantity, can this convert it autmatically into:
2 x Carton
2 x Pack
3 x Single

Would that be possible?

Not sure if i'm following completely - but if you set the Sales UOM on the item card it will default to that when ordering.

No, you would need to write a routine to calculate that.

Thanks for your help, sorry for reviving an old thread.

I have come back to this issue again as I have developed a system to integrate with SO's in a Matrix format and I would like to add the ability to either:

a) Have lines in a SO automatically distributed into UOM

or

b) Have invoicing display a single line (with avg pricing) into a breakdown by UOM w/pricing.

Does anyone have any suggestions for the latter as it would be quite difficult to implement the first option into a Matrix system

Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction to how to write a routine for dividing a sales line into multiple lines as of the first post
