attachment of Scanned copy to the master

Please tell me how to attach scanned copies to the particular master in nav . is any customization required for this or functionality available in the base.

You could use the Links functionality (the paperclip icon) to attach documents to a record.
Or you could create a BLOB-field in the record, and import your document into this field (similar to the import/export logo thing on the Company Information card).

Copy the File ( MS word , PDF) in a shared folder which is accessible to others and use the Record Links feature ( paperclip icon in the toolbar) to link this document to the Sales / Purchase documents.
