Responsibility Centre like feature for Indirect Expenses

Hi all, our company has two main branches in India - West Coast and East Coast. Although legally they both are the same company, internally they compete with each other and hence used to maintain seperate set of books in Tally, our current accounting package that we are replacing with NAV 2009 R1 SP1 (RTC).

Thus members of one branch should not see the information of the other. Initially our MS Channel Partner said that we could use Responsibility Centre for this purpose, but recently they realized that it is valid only for Customer, Vendors, and Invoices, but we want it for all transactions including Indirect Expenses and Income Statement.

Now they and Microsoft are suggesting we use a Global Dimension, and customize to update a transaction's dimension value based on logged in user. I would like your inputs on the impact that this may have on our existing configuration and NAV in general, and whether you have faced such a situation, and any alternatives that you can think of.

    I would not suggest for customization.

    Rather than create three company
    1.East Cost
    2.West Cost
    3.Consolidation ( In here the data will be consilidated & shown).
