Item quality levels and coding

In the system we are about to design we have to distinguish between several quality levels of the finish goods. Based on this their unit price should be different. What is suggested approach? Do we need to create a separate item code for each combination of item and quality level?

    Hi,

If it's only regarding Sales Pricing definition, use Minimum Quantity on Sales Price. If it also a question of inventory valuation, may I suggest to work with variants and stockkeepingUnits ?

Thanks for the reply. This will not work. variants are good if the attribute is not substantial. this is not the case. we have to know the inventory of each quality level and the price also will be determined based on quality level.

what about the the cost of the inventory of each level ? Is it same ? Against the same input are you getting the output with different qualities ?

You can accomplish that in standard NAV using variants. Why do you say variants will not work on your scenario?

Thanks for your effort. The unit cost is the same, but how to set different unit price based on quality and using variants?

    Using the Sales Price table.
The variant code field is there, so you can specify different sales price per each variant.
