Standard Cost Update

Hi Guys,
Before i can say anything let me tell you that i am more towards technical but trying to learn something about inventory costing.
We have Nav 3.7 with 5.0 exe and our costing method is standard. Now what i am trying to do is to update the standard cost of some 1000 items. unlike 5.0 we do not have std cost worksheet in 3.7. So i will do the following steps:
1. remove WIP Qty and put that in some TEMP location.
2. Do the negative Adj of all the items with old Std Cost to make QoH = 0.
3. Update the Std Cost of 1000 Items.
4. Run roll Up Std Cost batch job.
5. Do the positive Adj of all items(Std Cost from Item Card).
6. Do the consumption with new std cost to put WIP Qty back.

Is there any better way to do this.
