If no Field Group has been defined the system will use the Primary Key (PK) to create the dropdown list.

Also read this blog: New Drop Down window in Microsoft NAV 2009 using Fields Groups.

    thanks lvanvugt.

GroupName : DropDown seems to be case sensitive...

other than DropDown any other groupnames possible? it seems we could enter any thing over groupname...
if only DropDown available, they could have made group name static!!! or like option selection!!! :|

without proper Documentations... ididnt understand wat microsoft is trying to do... live experiments??? ](*,) [-(

Only standard info given by MS is in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 Developer and IT Pro Documentation: How to: Customize Data Displayed in a Drop-Down Control Using Field Groups.

Did the following test (on Table 3 Payment TErms):

    a. Changed Field Group name from DropDown to DropDownList
-> Result: Field Group is not used; instead PK + Description field
    b. Created 2 Field Groups:
      1 DropDown1 Code,Description,Due Date Calculation
      2 DropDown Code,Due Date Calculation
-> Result: 2nd Field Group is used
    c. Created 2 Field Groups:
      1 DropDown1 Code,Description,Due Date Calculation
      2 DropDown2 Code,Due Date Calculation
-> Result: Field Group is not used; instead PK + Description field

    Conclusion:
Only one Field Group named DropDown can/will be used.
