RTC reports

Hi All,
First post out of shear desparation!
We have 9 reports that were created in classic. They are all very similar to each other in terms of layout (invoice, proforma, order confirmation......). I have been trying unsuccessfully to convert them to RTC.
Is there anyone willing to be paid to convert them?
(moderators - please delete my post if I am out of order here and accept my apologies)
If no one is willing to be paid, does anyone know of a step by step tutorial?
Cheers

Invoices, orders, etc. are the hardest things to convert. If you do find a person good at doing it, pass along the info!

I you have paid your service plan subscription to Microsoft (partnersource) you will find the document that describes how to create sales invoice from scratch explaining each line of code in report 206 that is related to RTC.
Thanks,

Hi Vasilis,
Can you point me to the correct area on PartnerSource. I can't find anything.
Many thanks

Hi,
First choose "edit---> create layout suggestion" from within the Classic report. This will open the report in Visual Studio.
I have found the key to converting reports is to make sure that the width is no wider than about 8 inches. And height of header about 4.25 inches.
You have to change in two places: First drag the width to be the right size. Then, right click on the square at the top left of the report and select "properties" (this will be the properties of the entire report). Resize width to 8 inches.
Now in order to do this you need to make sure any tables are not too wide. If the table is too wide, you must take all the unneeded fields and move them into additional rows below the table. (I can't find it right now - but there is an MSDN how-to on this).0 -
I think this will be the last of his problems...there are more difficult problmes to overcome during the transforming process...anyway, you can't say that 8inch is the correct size :? the size is the width of the page (that is 21cm, for A4 format), and you have to subtract the left margin + the right margin width (that is, if you use create layout suggestion, 2.1cm).Votuc wrote:Hi,

i'always check the page size/margins at first when developing a report, because sometimes nav/visual studio puts some fancy numbers like 25.3 cm in the page size...
IMPORTANT: the manual code is 80146B, but i can't find the link, sorry0 -

It's a nice tutorial, but it still is not complete in terms of how to create a nice looking document type report. There will still be a lot of trial and error on your part.Confessions of a Dynamics NAV Consultant = my blog

Hi Alex,
Can you please post screen shots of each of your 9 reports?
What version of RTC are you using? If you have 29626 version you will have to upgrade to the latest version becuase landscape reports are presented in portrait format.
its been over 20 days that you post. I am sure if you spend 2 days trying how it works you would figure it out.
place the screen shots to see what i can help you with.
Regards,
Vasilis0
