Running Navision 3.70B database on a 4.0 server / client

Hi there,

A client will start using Navision on the first of january. We did the conversion of the old ERP data to Navision in Navision 3.70B (Industry Templates). We wanted to migrate this environment to 4.0 before going life. Due to logistical problems with the license and the delivery of 4.0 and the industry templates we are running behind on schedule and we want to minimize project risk by implementing 3.70B on the first of January instead of 4.0.

We have allready installed the 4.0 server and client software on site. So we now must reinstall 3.70B or decide to run the 3.70B database we created on the 4.0 server and client. I have tried this and it seems to work. Does anybody know if this is supported or if this might generate problems in a later stage of the project.

We want to do the migration to 4.0 somewhere in Q1 2005... so keeping the 4.0 software on the system would be nice...

A Navision support consultant in the Netherlands has informed me that it is even recommended to run the 3.70B database on a 4.0 server and client installation. So there should not be any problems. He specially referred to running SQL server... since a lot of issues were solved in running Navision on SQL it it recommended to use the 4.0 engine in these instances.
