Hello,

We want to import our historic data in Axapta. We tried with Excel, but that is very slow and not stable.

Now we want to try to import data via ASCII. Can anybody help us with some instructions?

Thanks!

    Hi,

You have got quite a few options. If you are a skilled X++ programmer, option is to write a job for import. For an example for jobs, you might want to check my personal website - http://www.harishm.com/Navision/Code.html

Otherwise you can try looking at some 3rd party options. Two solutions that comes to my mind are -

    1) Atlas XL from http://www.atlasxl.com.au/.

Atlas XL provides excellent interface for importing open customer/vendor invoices, Inventory balances (thru' Journals), Project journals, Ledger balance etc.

If interested you might want to check the above link or directly write to Steve Wright. His email address - steve@atlasxl.com.au

    2) Galaxy from Columbus IT

Galaxy provides functionality both to import/export data to/from Axapta. For more info on this, do please contact local Columbus office.

    Hope this helps,

The fastest way, IMHO is to create a *.csv file by Excel (comma delimited fields) and then import it. Don't forget to specify the properties of the import file in Axapta (the delimiter must be ";").
