Different size given for the same Navision Backup

Hi,

There is a user report to me that he stores the Navision Backup file (Data Common to All Companies and Application Objects ticked) into local harddrive and thumbdrive but both giving him 2 different sizes.

In harddrive was approximately 500MB while in thumbdrive was about 2GB.

Thus, I did the same testing on my computer plus thumbdrive using the Cronus Database. I am getting the same result.

Does the Navision Backup method using different way to store in harddrive and thumbdrive?

Have you checked that you do not have drive compression on the hard drive?

Before we will go into this, how did you check the file size? Through file properties? There are two numbers: size and size on disc. It could tell you the real size and the size on disc (rounded to whole clusters).

both also we check - size and size on disc.

there is a huge different of the size (same database backup stored to harddisk and thumbdrive)

however, would like to thank you kine for your assistance

we suspect the way navision backup write into different device , especially on external will incur more capacities than local.
