How do you know when a Sales Order is capable to ship?

When the Sales Order status is 'released', and the due date has arrived, presumably the Sales Order if ready to ship. However, that does not tell me if the items on the Sales Lines are available. I can then go into each line and look at the availability of the item, but that is manual and not efficient.

Is there a means by which I can determine that all items called for on a particular Sales Order are in fact available to be shipped? I would like to be able to filter on this, so I could present to the shipping department a list of all sales orders that are ready to go out the door.

What u want is directly not available, but a customised report can be made that can group sales Orders based on a date to show how much is required to be shipped and how much is available.

Use the standard NAV report: Outstanding Sales Order Status.

There's no customization required.

Hmm. On closer inspection, I don't think this addresses the issue. We want to create a list of Sales Orders that have adequate inventory on hand for them to be shipped. This report appears to tell me what is yet to be shipped, but does not tell me if the inventory is in fact available. Am I missing something?

Sorry, not by the order. There's a standard report for by Customer and by item. For some reason, not a standard one by Sales Header.

Take a look at Back Order Fill by Customer and Back Order Fill by Item. You can create a new report that's by Sales Header easily enough.
