Deleting old data process

Hi Experts!

I would like to know the standard process of deleting old data(in database from 2004 to till data data is there) in NAV, database becomming large and now a days client facing performance issues. What are the possible ways to delete data??

    Have a look at Date Compression routines.

    They should be under Administration -> Data Deletion

    Make sure you have a backup of the database before you start, and make sure you can recover it. There maybe a requirement to keep data for a certain number of years for legal and audit reason so check the local requirements.

    Hi Ian,

    Thanks for quick response.

    Yeah I have checked Date compression, but it is taking long time, as navision version is 3.6, is there any other way??

    Be careful with data compression as this can be Disastrous. The issue has been discussed several times on the forum and version 3.6 seems to be worse with compression of Inventory transactions :

    Are you sure the problems with performance are because there are too much data in your tables?
    In general the posted documents and entry tables don't have much problems with lots of data.
    Before starting deleting data, I would first try some performance tuning.
