Most partners in the US are charging anywhere from $150 to $200, if that helps. I would consider it like any salary negotiation. Stick a rate out there and say it's negotiable. Good luck.0

For a partner that seems about right, for a freelancer...150 - 200 is expensive. In my opinion...0

Why would a freelancer have to charge less than a partner? All things considered equal (meaning the freelancer is equally qualified, has access to the right license, etcetera), the value that the customer gets from a freelancer is the same as from a partner, so why would a freelancer's rate have to be lower than a partner's rate?0

Doesn't have to be. Some people will see it as a competitive edge. Others will see it as they are not as good because they charge less.0

when i have done freelance for my former employer (just doing report fixes, etc.), I have charged $80/hr, about half what their partner charges. I don't want to be their partner or be responsible for their system, i just want the extra cash on occassion. if you are going to be full-service freelance, i don't see anythign wrong with pricing yourself comparable to partners.kind of fell into this...0

I've worked on both sides of the fence, 8 years at a partner and 2 at an end user sp I can see it from both perspectives.
In the UK where most of my work has been, you would typically expect to pay between £750 - £1000 per day for partner services where as a freelancer typically charges £300 - £600 per day depending on experience and the role you are hiring them for.
You could argue that you get added value, or rather support, from a reseller as you have an organisation to deal with with additional support around the individual you pay for. Also it would be easier (in my opinion) to hold a company accountable if something goes wrong than an individual freelancer.
Don't get me wrong, I agree with you that the services and skills offered by freelancers are equal to that of partners (and in a lot of cases better!) and thus deserve equal value...in an ideal world, but from my experience that is not how the market is priced and you need to be competitive in your rates while being careful not to devalue your skill-set.0 -
For an end user there are only two reasons why you should hire a freelancer.
1. You need a certain specialist that is not available (or not qualified enough) at your partner.
2. You do have a special project (temporary appointment) that is maybe separated from your normal business (you don't have to revert to someone who is much experienced in your business and infrastructure) and the freelancer is cheaper than your partner or your partner do not have enough resources within a certain period of time.
In Germany you pay for a partner something between 100€ and 180€ per hour. Freelancer depends on his quality, could be less but also more.
Edit: Someone told me that he's paying only 80€ for his partner, but I think that's very uncommon."Money is likewise the greatest chance and the greatest scourge of mankind."0 -
How much should a freelancer residing in Africa charge in $ for hourly job? Anybody in Africa who is freelancing?0
