NAV 5.0 database server failes

RainerRainer Member Posts: 103
Facts:
1. Customer install new physical server (Win 2008), same IP as the old one.
2. Path (X:\Navision\dba\) to the native database is shared to \\yyy\
3. Full acces for all users is okay, both path security and share security, even the databasefile
4. On the server it is possible to open database as local, just point out database and run it, that works
5. Installing database server, point to the database and service is installed without problems.
6. Restart service, no problems.
7. Ping service, no problems.

Problems:
a. Error when client try to acces, not possible to find the file X:\Navision\dba\ or even \\yyy\

Can anybody help me solve this problem?

Kind regards
Kind Regards

connect to the server name. Not the DB path

The only user that needs access to the database folder and files is the account running the service. This applys to both native and SQL.

The account running the service should have access to active directory.
Is X: a local drive on the same server the service is running?
What type of account the service is running under.
Any entries in the event log?

How do you do this? I only know how to ping a machine (or rather a network interface).

Offcourse you need to point out the database when you install the server or first time you
open the client !! How should the databaseserver program know where the database is !!!

Offcourse I connect to the service name !!

    Hi
Normally you can just set the service user to local system.
