CoA with a "dot"

Dear All,
I am new to AX and currently designing the CoA.
Wonder if the CoA with a "dot" (eg. 123456.01) is workable?
Any potential problem in the future if there are a lot of integration between AX with many other system (CRM, BI, WMS & etc).

I think it's better to use a "_" or "/" characters, the "." point maybe misunderstand (for example in a export to XLS)
we unfortunately use the "." in the item codification and have problem during the export in XLS files.
