Hi All,
As I am new to Navision and in my first project I have to upgrade the existing project form 4.0 SP3 to 2009 SP1.My question to all experts is:

1)what are the steps that I need to follows while doing this task?
2)Are there anything that i need to particularly take care while doing this task?

Thanks,
Viren

I'm sorry but If you are new to NAV and your first project is to upgrade a db, and I were the customer, I would take my db and run away as far as possible.

Upgrade are not easy especially to 2009.

You need to understand std NAV and be able to understand what the code does when you are merging the code.

I suggest to tell you Boss to give you a more easier project, instead of setting you up to fail.

Rough maybe, but I am an end user, and I thought the exact same thing. My solution center is very experienced and I have been with them for 10 plus years, but I would not want to be their first upgrade to 2009, because no matter how experienced you are, there are always new things that come up, now their experience would help them overcome those unexpected things, but I still would not want to be the one they learned those lessons on. Although I am confident they could handle it.

There is zero posibility I would ever allow someones very first project with Navision be to upgrade my database, I repeat ZERO chance. I know who works at my solution center, and if they said I am putting the new guy on your upgrade, I would start looking for a new solution center, because that would tell me they weren't very professional.

The root problem here being the solution center putting a rookie on this project without any apparent support whatsoever [-X ](*,)

    Hi Experts,
Thanks a ton for showing your concern towards me.But its nice to hear that its going to be tough for me to do this upgradation i would like to take up this challenge.
Just want to clarify that I have my teammates that have a good experience and they will also be working on this project.
My original questions to you guys was that being my first upgradation project what all steps i need to follow and what all things i should take care while doing the upgradation as I would like to learn a lot from this project.
Hope you will answer my questions.

    Thanks a Ton,
    Virenp.

That's what your seniors are for, are they not explaining this to you?
