Dynamic Captions on Parts/Groups

I'm struggling a lot with a lack of flexibility in the RTC. I'm sure a lot more will come later with future service packs and major versions, but anyway...

I have a need to develop a page with a series of parts/groups with dynamic captions (because each part needs to show a date string as a caption). To relay it simply, look at the Sales Order page where you have parts/groups for "General", "Lines", "Invoicing", etc.

Is there any way to dynamically (through code) modify these captions? If not, I might have to look at an ugly workaround and use the feature that lets you show certain field values directly on the group header (like the Invoicing tab shows payment terms, etc.) to show the respective date. I'm hoping there's a way to do this dynamically though...
