Dataport: Uneven record column numbers

How do I dataport data records with uneven column numbers?
should I use COPYSTR()?

and how about filtering lines starting with "001" and "008"?

EDIT: I sort of go around this by treating each line as one column and used COPYSTR as much as possible to gather what I need.

As for filtering, I used OnAfterImportRecord and SKIP.

So, sorta solved for now.
