Possible to upgrade without full NAV installation

Hi!

I wonder if is possible to do an upgrade with just the client installtion ( a copy of client folder)?

For instance:
I need to upgrade from 3.01 to 4.0, I will need the 4.0 client but instead of doing a full installation I will just copy the 4.0 client folder.

When I will upgrade from 4.0 to 2009 I will do the same with the 2009 client.

Will this work or do you need the full installtion of NAV to perform an upgrade?
Hello IT, have you tried to turn it off and on?
Have you checked the cables?
Have you released the filters?

You can copy the classic client, but any external component objects won't compile

While it is possible, it is not recommended.
The installer makes shure that any componets, NAV relies on, are there in the proper version. You might experience different kinds of trouble if you don't follow this rule.

So, at least in a production environment, do a propper installation.
