Navision Application Benchmark Tool v1.00
The Application Benchmark Tool has been developed to measure the performance of a Navision installation, and to express the results in terms that mirror real world situations.Ideally, these results should relate directly to the terms of a requirement specification from a customer. The tool can be used when you are running Navision on either Navision Database Server or on SQL Server. The tool puts a realistic load on the server in order to monitor the true performance of Navision.

The Application Benchmark Tool version 1.00 is developed for Microsoft Business Solutions-Navision W1 4.0 and Microsoft Navision W1 3.70A.

Important:
The tool should only be used in a test environment.

    Hi there,

Thanks for the 1st. response to this tool.

The nature of custom solutions imply that benchmarking of those are difficult. We want to set and meet customer expectations in terms of performance. And we need to do it in a cost efficient way. This tool has been made to balance the need for "being custom" and at the same time support real life scenarios.

I would like to understand the need for such tool. The tool got one rating = poor. What is behind that rating, what did you struggle with, what are your requirements etc.

    Please advice, Thanks!

Well, I ahve to say I was pretty impressed by this tool.

I'm a novice Navision user, with a little bit of end user experience and a very basic technical amount of experience.

I just set this tool up in VMware, with the WW cronus db, and it worked flawlessly. Easy to install, easy to set up, easy to configure and easy to run, thanks to the fantastic documentation.

Only part that lack that NAV "Wow" effect, is the reporting aspect. There are a few ways to export data, there's a report, but I was hoping to see more detailed reporting.

But then again, I still have lots to fiddle and mess around with.

I'm very curious to hear any else's experience or opinion? Perhaps any tips?

I'm only running this tool in a VMware environment, though it works superfast and very smooth.
New to NAV. Please don't eat me. I prolly taste funny.

It is on purpose that we have not made any reporting options from within Navision.

The idea is that you copy and paste Client Log Entries to Excel. In Excel you can Pivot on any dimension according to your recordings. The Client Log Entry table provides a rich data collect which should cover reporting needs. If not you should extend this table and generate further data.
