Changing Posting Groups

I want to know what will be the significance of changing the posting groups of existing vendor or any customer where transactions are posted

The posting group us referenced at the time of posting, so if you have part posted transactions then the end outcome will change from what it would have been. Depends upon the process, state and as the previous poster stated, the posting groups you reference.The art of teaching is clarity and the art of learning is to listen0

I tried it in local database, In first case i changed a vendor posting group from A to B.When i navigate old transactions the g/l a/c was showing the same posting group as earlier i.e A.In second case after the change , while generating report if I select posting group as B then it shows the older transactions with old posting group and generates blank report when i select A posting group for the same vendor.As per my understanding main basis is vendor while generating report .But will it give a negative impact if we change the posting group ???0
