    Hi Sanjeev,

Is your SQL Server setup to be acccessed externally? I.e. is the relevant client protocol (often TCP/IP) enabled?

I am only having a SQL Server 2008 running so I cannot exactly say how and where, but I recall that it similar on SQL Server 2005. See screen shot.
1.- On SQL Server 2008 open
      2.- Select the
    SQL Native Client Configuration
      3.- Select
    Client Protocols
      4.- Select the relevant protocol e.g. TCP/IP
5.- Enable the protocol (right click and select
    Enable)

Maybe you should also start the "SQL Browser" service.

Do you have a "Standard Instance" or a "Named Instance"?
SI are using TCP Port 1433; NI are using Dynamic Ports, which is sometimes causing trouble with Win 2008. Maybe you should open port 1433 in your Firewall; also maybe you have to change from Dynamics to Fixed Port, then also opening this specific port ...
