We r using Nav 4.0 SP3 and wish to use with Windows 7 operating systems. Pls note only few of computers are having win7 operating systems and others using win xp.

We have latest build for sp3 and tested on test server. It is allowing to use on win7 however would like to confirm few things.

1. While using on win7 first time we need to convert the database : Will it be safe if we convert it considering others are using win xp systems.
2. Whether there will be any issues with the database that others may not use some features etc/

Regards,
Manas

What you're doing is called a technical upgrade. When you do a technical upgrade that requires alterations in the database structure NAV asks if you want to upgrade the database (twice). Once you do this earlier versions of the client will not connect to the database.

    So your answers are:
    1. Yes it's probably a safe upgrade, but you will have to upgrade the client on all desktops at the same time.
    2. From memory the main issues you may run into are that the margins on reports may change and certain importing dataports might destroy the system.

I would suggest you get your partner to do a technical upgrade to a supported version of NAV.

it is not advisable to do the upgrade which NAV asks. At times it may lead to give different results espscially when you run the reports. As suggested here call your partner for technical upgrade.
