Challenges with operating in a consolidating company

Hello All,

Has anyone has challenges and problems with a client who wants to also operate in a company where they consolidate.

So for e.g.

Com Corp
Com A
Com B

Com Corp = Com A + Com B

But Com Corp is also used for regular operations like buying and some selling at the corporate level.....

Somehow I don't feel comfortable with that so I wanted to get some views, if anyone did this and what are the anticipated challenges with this setup ?

I suggest to create a separate company for Corp, and then consolidate it all into Comp Consolidate.
If consolidated company is in the same corp company, it will be hard to run reports to see buying and some selling at the corporate level.

It's not that much work.
