host file problem

Can anyone calrify the doubts. I have a separate 2003 server for Dynamics database. I have another 2003 server in which I have installed the client. and all the users will connect to the second server, from there through client program they will connect to the database.

Recently I have reinstall the server in which the client is installed, and instead of adding the reference of server details in the host file and port details in the services file, I have replaced those file with the old files.

Now when I start the cleint it does not read the data from the host file, so that I have added in the shortcut of cleint as fin.exe database=192.168.10,1:3000,nettype=tcp

My question is why it is not getting connected to the server by giving the server name in the initial form.

it says "server does not exist in the host file (TCP/IP=NO_DATA)

CAN ANYONE PLEASE CLARIFY THE SAME

THANKS,SURESH

Read the setup and installation guide, you are mixing up database and server. Its all explained clearly in the manuals.
