NAV 2009 Development Exams

I passed both development exams for NAV 2009 last night \:D/ Thought I would give some feedback for those also looking to take the exams.

The C/SIDE Introduction was WAY harder than the C/SIDE Solution Development, in my opinion. I know, I was shocked too.

Based on what Microsoft said would be on the exam I was a little skeptical about how much real NAV 2009 stuff would be on the test (RTC, Pages, Reports, Web Services, etc), but it is fairly heavy on those topics. Anyone who might think that they know all of the other NAV stuff and it will be enough to pass is wrong. You might also read through the Coding Standards PDF if that still comes with the product CD. No real surprise here, but if you were to focus on any one of the new features it would definitely be Pages.

There were also a couple of questions on the introduction exam that were clearly written before SP1 came out. As in the answer was really no longer true. I'm not going to say what they were, but I provided feedback that I'd imagine will never be looked at on the exam.

Maybe it's because "Solution Design" hasn't really changed and the base product has changed a lot, but I did significantly better on the "advanced" exam.

Anyway, just some basic feedback. For the responses that I know will come: No I will not tell you what questions they asked me and no I don't have any cheat sheets. Study the manuals and practice! :D

About the "freshness" - I had same problem with NAV 2009 Install and Config exam. Some questions were outdated with SP1. It means that you sometime need to know the history of the product to be able to answer the questions correctly.

Back when it was 100 questions it wasn't as big of a big deal. 1 question was 1% of your score. Granted you needed 80% to pass, not the 70% it is now.

Before you could only miss 20 questions and pass, now it's 15. Two very badly done questions can make all the difference.

Yeah... I passed the development and the finance exams. But failed the Installation and Configuration exam (got 68 points, 70 to pass #-o ). They've introduced a lot of stuff in the NAV2009 I&C exam...

Really glad I'm not the only veteran struggling with the I&C.

Hi Experts, I have cleared Dev I in NAV 5.0 SP1, and now want to clear the Dev II but as 2009 came, so I would prefer to clear it in newer version, so shall I give Dev I in 2009 again or I can direct approach Dev II.

I know Page and Reports and Web-Services are there which I need to clear before I continue with Solution.

So, Please guide me what to do...!!
    Thanks,

You can take any NAV exam at any time. You do NOT have to take dev I before dev II.
