Ax 2009 - Main warehouse set up in Warehouse master – master planning tab

I got some issue with this set up in Axapta for master planning. This set up (one main warehouse for a normal warehouse ) restricts me to have the planned transfer orders from main warehouse only for stock transfer. If I am expecting to transfer stock between multi warehouses other than the one mentioned as “main warehouse” in warehouse master, is there any provision ?

Also in case of a stock requirement in my normal warehouse which need to be purchased as no stock available in normal warehouse or main warehouse, by master planning AX generates planned purchase order for corresponding main warehouse only, and a planned transfer order to transfer the stock from main warehouse to normal warehouse. I need to generate single planned purchase order only to ensure the purchase order is for the normal warehouse and to avoid multiple steps.

Can someone please guide on this issue ?

There is no "dynamic" analysis of on hand stock to enable the system to pick the warehouse with stock to transfer from.

The setting you are looking at is the default warehouse supplying the source warehouse, however on the item coverage you can alter this, you can change the planned order type. However you cannot say supply warehouse A from B and C and get the system to transfer from C if there is stock. This is a suggested default, you would need to set it to B and analyse other warehouses as required.

To avoid hte multiple steps you need to be able to purchase into B and this means you would never transfer to B as default. This is all about 80/20 rule, whichever you do the most of you set the system up to handle this and work on exceptions within the process. What you are asking here is for the system to know at times to obey the rules you have set and at another time when the wind blows to ignore them. This I am afraid is human intervention in AX.

    Thanks for the reply.

my requirment in simple terms is as follows

I have Warehouse A and is attached with a main warehouse "Warehouse B". As a result of Master planning i am able to get planned transfer orders from warehouse B only , where as i am looking to get planned transfer order from all warehouses in site based on trequirment and stock availability. is there any configurations for this ?

in some cases the stock wotn be sufficient in warehouse A and Warehouse B ( how ever i am looking for many warehouses ) system generates planned purchase order for Warehouse B and planned transfer order for transfering from warehouse B to warehouse A . This add up the number of steps and user intevention. is there any method to reduce this flow or any alternative .

If you use main warehouse "А" and end warehouse"B". You can purchase only from main warehouse, he is distrib. warehouse. SO or any other demand in B generate Demand in B, B has main warehouse "A" - planed transfer order. Planed transfer order generate demand in A - Purch.Order. This is the logic of main warehouse in AX. You You can see this planned order types in item details/button setup - item coverage. an change planed order type from transfer order to PO, after that firm that order and rescched. Planed PO in A will gone. [-(

    .

    No

As I said there is no dynamic analysis of stock levels and availability - you need to modify it very very carefully to achieve this.
