update counting period on multiple sku's at one time

Hello, everyone. We are wanting to write a routine that automatically updates the counting period on the SKU or Item card instead of one at a time. I did find an old post that related to my question (link below), but it doesn't refer to any ramifications. Has anybody had experience with this? We were thinking we could run it once to update the counting period for all items, and then run it again each time we do a cycle count. One caveat is the fact that the warehouse intends to do a rolling cycle count, only counting say 100 parts each day. They do not want to have to then go into 100 sku cards at the end of each day and update the counting period. We figure we can run the same routine over and over, or modify it to just look at updating the couting period for those items with the last phys. invt. date within a specified range. Is there anything we are not thinking of?

If you are concerned with ramifications then test it. Use the development tool to see if the fields you are updating exist anywhere else in Navision, then look at the code there to see what it is used for in those other areas. I've done controlled, one time updates, to the last phys. count date without issue. That doesn't mean you aren't using a module or granule that my client wasn't which will cause you an issue where it didn't cause me one.

What "development tool" are you referring to exactly?
