Hi guys what is the best way according to your experience to import huge data information into Nav tables?
DataPort?
Data Migration ( importing Excel or XML files)?
or using SQL Integration Services?
I know that the first two have Validation.
And what about SQL Integration Services?
Best Regards.

What do you want to do?
Do a one time conversion of masterdata or write a highavailability interface.0 -
I want to import information from another ERP to start implemeting NAV.0

For simple data, you can use RIM
For complex you can use dataport.0 -
Can you define what is simple data and complex data?
I was thinking make queries from another datbase source and retrieve that query into Ecel and then make the conversions on dataport.
What you think?0 -
Simple and complex data is relative. If you think it's complex, then use dataports.
Personally, I use dataports for all data conversions.Confessions of a Dynamics NAV Consultant = my blog

I consider Simple data as
Customer List
Vendor List
Item List
Payment Terms List
etc.
It get's more complex when you need transactional data, ie/ledger entries, etc.0 -

what you mean?
What is TAB over comma?
sorry i´m newbie. :oops:0 -
Item No Description Unit Price Qty in Hand
123344 RubberCap 1.20 36
instead
Item No Description Unit Price Qty in Hand
123344;RubberCap;1.20;36
right?
Where you make the data conversion? On the dataport or via Excel?0 -
When you save a file in excel two of the many choices is
TEXT (Tab Delimited)
CSV (Comma Delimited)
I like tab because sometimes Descriptions, Names & Numbers can have Commas which can somtimes be a headache. It's your call. Just my personal preference

Yes i understand

I have manually to filter the ->;
But what about a conversion of data ?
For example change a value from "1" to " Lot-for-Lot".
How do i do automatically?
via Excel VBA? via Dataport?0 -
You might want to read up on the Application Designer on the section for Dataport first. It'll answer a lot of your questions.Confessions of a Dynamics NAV Consultant = my blog

There should be whitepapers on partnersource.
RIM is short for Rapid Implementation Methodology.0
