Here when we install Navision 4.0 on windows server 2008 then this message appears. and application crash.

If you want to run NAV 4.0 SP3 on Windows Server 2008 you need to install the platform update (KB931841). Then you can run it on Vista and Windows Server 2008. 8)

I have encounter the same problem.
After i download the hotfix KB931841 and tried to install, but i have received a error message :

"The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because th eprogram to be upgraded may be missing, on the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch." 

OS : Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition (X64)
NAV Client Version : 4.00 SP3 (Malaysia)
SQL Version : SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition (X64)

There are many things that could cause this with miss matched versions.

Install the hotfix version as a complete new install, and extract the files you need, then just put those files in the correct folders.
