NAV 2009 windows logins & RTC My Notifications issue

Anyone ever notice an issue with not receiving notes sent to a user in the RTC if their windows login user case isn't exactly as setup on the server?
For example if the windows login username is setup as Marc on the server and that user logs into his computer as marc and then starts the RTC, he will not see any notifications sent to him because users are sending to Marc.
If he logs off and logs back in as Marc on his computer and then starts the RTC, his notifications are there.
Is this normal and intended?
