Licensed session vs. Current session

AmaraaAmaraa Member Posts: 153
Hello guys,

Sorry for such a simple question, but how the licensing session works?
As my little understanding I think if the currents session is higher than licensed session further logins should be restricted.

However, when I tested I have 8 current session and 5 licensed session. but still I can do things on navision.
Or is it different with SQL server logins? or same logins in duplicated is affect to it????

I'm using
OS: win xp sp2
SQL server 2005
nav 5.1

any replies appreciated,
Amaraa

post a screenshot with current&licensed session count
    File-Database-Information-Sessions

I don't think you can run more than licensed session limit

I find the "Current Sessions" field is often inaccurate.
    What I do is:
drill down (F6) find the row where "My Session" is ticked press F7 and OK in the "Database Name" field, to see only the sessions on that database

I just tried it now. "Curent Sessions" was 4, but there was actually just one session for that database.

I don't know why this happens, but it's something to be aware of.

I think you didn't get me.
I have created this 7 sessions. 7 is the number supposed to be.
But the license should restrict if the current session is greater than licensed session.
I'm wondering why this doesn't let kick the last ones

    me too!
i'm with nav 5.01 (SQL), i access nav multiple times with the same user (database authentication, licensed session are 4): i can access nav also more than 4 times, BUT!!!
1 current sessions are always 1
2 if i access nav with user "sa", i am blocked because of too much sessions
2.a if i check the license, it is cronus one
2.b i change the license with my developer license
2.c i access nav with "sa" user (i can exceed the licensed sessions with dev license)
2.d i check the number of sessions: correct number!(more than 4)

:-k :-k can the license be bugged?!?! Or, what am i missing?

It means that the users account have restricted permissions to see other sessions (SA see all the sessions, thus is not allowed to login). This should be solved by the trace flag 4616, but it seems that sometime it is not enough...

now i found this topic, searching "traceflag 4616"

    thank you!
(i thought it was something about "a normal user can't see the data about the sessions, so he'll see only himself", but my boss said it's not possible...now i can go in front of him while doing \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ )

I have -t4616 on my sql. Cause without this navision doesn't run with sql. But still I didn't find the solution why it exceeds the licensed session No.

    Hi,

I'm also encountering the same problem in Nav 5.0 SP1. In addition, some users are able to login into Navision and some others not, which is very confusing.

Any idea how to solve this issue?

    Many thanks.

the 7 sessions above is 7 different user. I didn't duplicate the user.
I thought it may allow 1 user to login in multiple times and it may count as one.
So, I have created 7 user and logged in with all those. But it just no restriction lets me in with the different users.

My licensed user is 3 + 1, anyhow it shows 5 on the session information.

Can somebody give a clear description about this?

    Thanks,
    Amaraa
