about code unit NoSeriesManagement

Hi every one:) I am a fresh man to Navision and also ERP. I have some question about the code unit NoSeriesManagement.
1. What's the use of function SelectSeries? It looks like to select a series number, but why it need so much parameters? What is DefaultNoSeriesCode, OldNoSeriesCode mean?

2. Is there any documents for the code in the Navision?

Take a look at the OnInsert trigger of eg. Table 27 or 36. To find out what parameters are used.
