NAV 2009 SP1 server on 32 bit and Client on 64 bit

ssinglassingla Member Posts: 2,973
Though I have asked in a different post but was not getting enough response, may be due to different topic title, so I am reposting as a separate post.

Client has NAV 2009 SP1 with WIN Small Business Server 2003 and SQL Server 2005 running on 32 bit. Client is purchasing few laptops with WIN7 on 64 bit.
Will 64 Bit client run the NAV application running on 32 bit?

I am pretty sure the question was answered in that other thread, and numerous other times. 8)

Anyway, if you run a 32 bit app on 64 bit OS then it will run in WOW which is basically a virtual machine. If the machine has more than 4 gig RAM, then this makes sense, but if you have 4gig or less there is no real reason to install 64 bit.

The Navision SQL server should ALWAYS be 64 bit.

    Hello
I fully agree with David. What me makes wondering is:
Windows Server 2008R2 is 64 Bit only. This means imho the end of 32 Bit in the Windows Server products. Navision server will then be installed on a 64 Bit system, no matter how many GB ram, etc. Do you agrree?
