Do you mean the native Server or a SQL server?
Do you make it right, it works too!

    Native Server

You can run it under XP. But question: Is it for a live system or only for an Test / Desktop / developing system?

If it is for an live system, you would not use XP. The reason is the hardeware handling of XP and WindowsServer (RAID, CPUs, RAM Handling, Resource handling, and so on).

It is for development only. To give access to external developer or partner. We wanted to separate it from LIVE/MAIN system.

It seems from your answer that XP should be ok.

    Should I continue?

    thanks

Running a native database server on a XP system is not a problem, but if it is only one consultant/developer that is working on that native database he could just as well open the database locally with the client. You then wouldn't have to install the Navision Server service.

No I don't agree with that at all, you can't make that statement in general. What if this one developer needs to test multi-user functionality?

If the goal is just a temporary installation for testing, then use a trial version of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 that could be installed in a virtual machine. That would give you 180 days to use the server environment that you need.
