Table Length

I m using NAV 4.0 SP3 IN version SQL DB.Can we increase the length of table which is 4000bytes by Default? I have 1 table(say,81) of 4000 bytes.My DB is in Hot Fix 5.I want to merge Hot Fix 6 in this DB.In Hot Fix 6 there are some new fields in Table 81 and my table(81) have already size of 4000 bytes.Then, How can I import those new fields which are available in Hot Fix 6 in table 81.

As far as I know you will have to create a second table to hold the information. Same primary key as the first table, but with different fields.

If table 81 reached 4k then you need to seriously look at the design of your customizations. What are you posting that needs that much data.

There is no other solution, the size limit is there, you can't work around it.

Ok, maybe all fields are mandatory. Is there a way to reduce their size? Do you have any text fields like descriptions that could be reduced (Custom ones)? If not, then there is no other way, as suggested by David.

Define "Mandatory" in this case?

Yeah, it takes a LOT of fields to get to this limit. We have a base table that has almost 100 custom fields added to it (don't ask, horrible design) and it's not even at the limit. I know it can happen, but it's difficult.

You have two choices. Remove fields and redesign your solution. Or add a second table and redesign your solution. If those fields are all mandatory then you only have option two.

Instead of creating new fields, you might look into using dimensions instead.

It would be scary if the fields were truly necessary,

Maybe it's even more scary if they are NOT needed, but the partner just went ahead and added them anyway. :whistle:
