Which one am I install first ? Patch Or Nav

When I'm trying to install the Patch (KB931841) it gives an error message..

The upgrade path can not be installed by the windows installer service because the program to be
upgraded may be missing or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program.Verify that
the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch

    What can I do ??

Are you running a 64 bit version as well ?

I know i put build 29113 on top of the this.

Some builds do an auto upgrade while some are manual ones as well perhaps you can just extract the the EXE and do the update manually

How to install a Microsoft Dynamics NAV hotfix or an update file
The Microsoft Dynamics NAV platform hotfixes and updates are made available as single files. To install a Microsoft Dynamics NAV hotfix or an update, you must replace the existing Microsoft Dynamics NAV installation files with the hotfix or the update files. To do this, follow these steps.

For Microsoft Dynamics NAV 4.0 Service Pack 3 (SP3)
Step 1: Replace the Microsoft Dynamics NAV client installation file
In the Microsoft Dynamics NAV client installation, replace the following files by using the hotfix or the update file. File name File version File size Date Time Platform
    Dbm.dll 4.0.3.29113 341,816 11-May-2009 19:08 x86
    Fin.exe 4.0.3.29113 8,120,120 11-May-2009 19:08 x86
    Finhlink.exe 4.0.3.29113 116,552 11-May-2009 19:08 x86
    Finsql.exe 4.0.3.29113 8,169,280 11-May-2009 19:08 x86
    Nc_netb.dll 4.0.3.29113 75,584 11-May-2009 19:08 x86
    Nc_tcp.dll 4.0.3.29113 79,680 11-May-2009 19:08 x86
    Nc_tcps.dll 4.0.3.29113 87,872 11-May-2009 19:08 x86
    Ndbcs.dll 4.0.3.29113 1,091,392 11-May-2009 19:08 x86
    Slave.exe 4.0.3.29113 91,968 11-May-2009 19:08 x86
Note The Microsoft Dynamics NAV client is usually installed in the following directory.

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Business Solutions-Navision\Client\

To replace the existing Microsoft Dynamics NAV files, follow these steps: 1. Close Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
    2. Locate the Microsoft Dynamics NAV client installation directory.
    3. Copy the files that you downloaded.
    4. Paste the files that you downloaded into the Microsoft Dynamics NAV client installation directory.
    5. In the Confirm File Replace dialog box, click Yes to overwrite the files in the installation directory.

    NAVUSER1,

you really should contact your Navision partner to help you with this if you don't know how to do it. Your partner will have trained specialists that know about all this as part of their normal routine work.

Hi all i'm planning on using windows 7 soon.
Do you mean it's compulsory to go through all steps above before using NAV 4.0 on Windows 7? Are there other requirements for using NAV 4.0 on Windows 7. I'm asking all these question because according to Windows 7 Compatibility center,NAV 4.0 sp3 is not compatible with Windows 7. Thanks in advance for the information.

    Follow the steps above.

Well it works anyway, even MS says it will work if you use XP mode via virtualisation.

    Hi Yekede!

NAV 4.0 sp3 is compatible with Windows 7. But build no. is the key factor.

    I have Nav Version US 4.00 SP3 (4.0 SP3).
My fin.exe for my clients is build number 23305 (4.03.23305).
My SERVER.exe for my server is build number 23305 (4.03.23305).
I would like to get the Nav clients to run on Windows 7 natively instead of through XP Mode as they are now.
I have been reading many forums and finding that it sounds as if the Nav 4.0 SP3 "can" run on Windows 7 if it has the correct build number.

I have also found this which is a platform roll-up designed to update it to run on Vista.
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/931841/the-microsoft-dynamics-nav-4-0-service-pack-3-platform-update-rollup-i

So which build number is the minimum required to have Navision 4.0 SP3 run on Windows 7?
Half-empy or half-full how do you view your database?

    Thanks.

Windows 7 was released in the middle of 2009, while NAV 4 end of support was in January 2010, so you may struggle to find a platform update for NAV 4 officially working on Windows 7. You may try to apply the latest available 4.0 build, which is, according to this blog, build 30033

Perhaps the better way to get Windows 7 compatibility would be to upgrade binaries to some newer NAV version, maybe even a few numbers up to NAV 2009 R2.
