We have windows terminal server 2003 running on top of vmware software. We have tried to install both 2.6 & 3.6 and both fail. The installation goes *all* the way to the very end, then rolls all the way back and says there has been an error without anymore information. Anybody seen this and/or have recommendations for a solution. Thanks,

CK

If you try to install Database Server (not the Client) maybe that is an issue with Cache size: Manual says 1000 MB maximum but that's not true, you can set ~870MB maximum. The preset cache size is afaik calculated from the amount of available RAM. When you install 2.6 or 3.6 on a server with lots of RAM (lets say more than 2Gig) the the preset amount of Cache size given by the installer is way too big and the installation fails while trying to start the Navision service at the end of installation with an erroneous information.

The Client has to be installed in "Installation mode" of windows terminal server, just type "change user /install" at the command prompt before starting any installation and "change user /execute" after finishing. Then use a Template to start the client by using the direct path to fin.exe with the options servername= and company=

Thanks for the reply. Our navision vendor finally got back to us and told us that 2.6 cannot install on 2003, so we just manually copied to files over and it seems to be working now. We'll probably eventually upgrade to 3.7.
