Good description of using Closing Dates

Hello all.

It seems that there is general lack of existing good descriptions of using Closing Dates in NAV. Hence here is an invite to join in to provide exactly that.

I.e. in what circumstances should a user enter a date in a transaction as a closing date?

What are the instances where NAV automatically assigns a closing date?

In what reports and situations should users use closing dates in report filters?

We know that when sorting by data by date, the Closing date Entries are always sorted at the end for entries of the same date.

What is the effect if 2 closing date entries are ettempted to be made for the same date?
