Navision 5.0 SP1 on 64 Bit Windows Server 2008

ta5ta5 Member Posts: 1,164
Hello
According to this link Navision 5.0 SP1 runs on Windows Server 2008.
https://mbs.microsoft.com/customersourc ... er2008.htm
But the 32/64 bit question is not answered. So does it run on a Windows Server 2008 64 Bit? Any problems or constraints?

Thanks in advance
Thomas

    I can't tell for 5.0 sp1, but I would guess it's same requirement.
The Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 Classic client can be installed on the
    following operating systems:
    • Windows XP Professional SP3 or later (X86 or running 32 bit on
    X64)
    • Windows Server 2003 SP2 or later (X86 or running 32 bit on X64)
    • Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 or later (X86 or running 32 bit on
    X64)
    • Windows Vista (Business, Enterprise, or Ultimate) SP1 or later (X86
or running 32 bit on X64)
    • Windows Server 2008 (X86 or running 32 bit on X64)

    Thanks Rashed
That's also my guess. If anybody would find an official statement that would be even better...

look into the DVD. I don't have a copy of the dvd. 2009 has the instal.chm that has the info I pasted.

Oops, just found in w1w1ism.pfd on the 5.01 DVD:
    The Operating System
The C/SIDE Database Server can run on the following operating systems:
    • Windows Vista
    • Windows XP
    • Windows Server 2003
The Dynamics NAV client (or a single-user) installation can run on the following
    operating systems:
    • Windows Vista
    • Windows XP
    • Windows Server 2003
The C/SIDE Database Server program and Dynamics NAV clients can only run on 32-bit
    platforms.

So no 64 Bit, although we don't know what about 64 bit Windows Server 2008...

    Hi

Our development system is on a Windows Server 2008 64 Bit and the Classic Client & Server (2009&2009SP1) works without problems.
Obviously they run on wow (Windows on Windows), 32 bit mode.

    Bye

As Eto wrote, yes, it works, running under WOW32, without problems. I am using Windows Vista and Windows 7 64bit as my development OS without problem for last year and more... (but I am not using MSMQ, which could have problems with 64bit, but it is used in rare cases).
