difference between service invoice and customer/vendor inv

can anybody tell me how can i differ to service invoice from sales invoice or purchase invoice.
and also i want to know use of service invoice why it is maked, have it the same process of calculate tax,posting and any other..

tell me in details..
it will be so grateful or appritiate for me
