Hi,

i think when it comes to to mark as solved , it is little bit difficult .

My advise is If possible just add the option as Solved at down part . Already we have the QUOTE , EDIT

so if you add SOLVED to this part , then it is very easy to user to mark it as solved.

When it comes to DUG it is very easy to mark as Solved .

Please consider this request.

Thanks and Regards

    Thank you for your suggestion.

However, at this time, I don't have the knowledge to apply this modification to the forum software.

EDIT & OFF TOPIC: look at the time of this posting: 09/09/09 09:09pm ;-)

    Mr. Rao ,

    really it is good suggestion.

In Mibuso lot of people are giving very good solutions when compared with other Forums .BUt due this Mark it as solved is little bit difficult , people not marking as solved that posts. that's In Mibuso u can find very less Green marks ( even lot of quiestions solved )

That's true about DUG , it is very very very easy to mark it as solved in DUG that 'sy u can find more Green marks in DUG.

Any how Mr. LUC will consider this as Good request .

I think marking topics as solved is very very very easy. I think many people just don't want to mark topics themselves, which happens just as often in here as it does in DUG. The difference is that there, OTHER people can mark topics, and in here we rely only on the original poster.

But it is very very very easy to mark them, not difficult at all.

    As I find,
    To mark a thread "SOLVED".

1.The Original Poster has to go back to the Origin of the thread.
    2.Click on "Edit" button.
    3. Attribute field will appear with drop-down default value "None".
    4. Originator has to select "Solved' form the drop-down and Submit.

If i am correct, It is definitely not easy, in general.
May be, because of this "marks" are rarely appeared in the list.

Which I like because only the original poster knows if their problem has truly been solved.

perhaps an auto-email (monthly) to the orig poster on posts not marked as solved & that have at least 1 reply & certain forums (obivously forums like downloads or tips n trick or general chat wouldn't need such an email) would help?
    Somthing like.
"Your post {Post Title Here} has not been marked solved.
    If it is then please goto {link to orig post}
follow these steps to mark as solved"
    1.Click on "Edit" button.
    2. select "Solved' Attribute form the drop-down and Submit."

    just an idea.

    eas⋅y [ee-zee] adjective, eas⋅i⋅er, eas⋅i⋅est, adverb, noun

    1. not hard or difficult; requiring no great labor or effort: a book that is easy to read; an easy victory.
    2. free from pain, discomfort, worry, or care: He led an easy life.
    3. providing or conducive to ease or comfort; comfortable: an easy stance; an easy relationship.
    4. fond of or given to ease; easygoing: an easy disposition.
    5. not harsh or strict; lenient: an easy master.

So I would say it's definitely easy to mark a topic as solved ;-)

Wow if you think that is difficult, I am wondering what will happen when you are faced with a real problem. Although it's not a one-step process, it is very easy to do.

Sometimes too easy, and I have to go back and mark threads as unsolved because they weren't.

My remarks were with reference to Forum Rule.
Members should remember this board is aimed at a general audience.

For general audience, i feel these steps are little complicated.
Attribute field should always be visible for the Original Poster.

A "Green Mark" gives lot of satisfaction to the members, who have spent their valuable time to sort out others difficulties.

I am sorry for the wrong "Smilie", i inserted.

Thanks, DenSter for pointing out the error.

I read the forum rule that we have to mark "Solve" for the solved mark. That's it. No more.
And I found my self trial-and-error looking for "How to mark it as solved". And then I knew that we have to "Edit" the first post, and then look into the field, which have text "Solved".

    My recommendation would be:
Give the step on how to mark it as Solved, beside the command to mark it as solved in general posting rule.
    Regards,
    Andwian

    Thank you for listening.
I have modified forum rule #3.9 to make it more clear.
How to mark your topic as 'Solved' ?:
Open your Topic thread. You'll find an option "Topic attributes" at the bottom right corner of the page. Note: this field is only visible for threads where the first post originates from you!

    How if it like this?
How to mark your topic as 'Solved' ?:
      Open your
    FIRST Topic thread.
You'll find an option "Topic attributes" at the LINE AFTER THE SUBJECT LINE.
Note: this field is only visible for threads where YOU ARE THE OWNER OF THIS TOPIC!
    Regards,
    Andwian

Isn't it easier to use the option at the bottom of the page? Then you don't have to edit your first post, and you don't have to click the Submit-button. You just select the [Solved] option and click "Go".

OMG... I have just known that the Topic Attributes just right out there! #-o
Of course that would be easier, but quite "invisible"
    Thank you for remarking!
