Hi, Mibuso frnds

I had been working with navision for the past few months, i had been handling with maintenance works, i didnt have experience in handling new projects. So would like to get valuable tips in handling new projects.
My doubts are
Based on customer requiement Database is selected(Native/SQL).
[*] So after selecting DB, what are the essential things to be done.?
[*] Regarding the database, i had seen a demo SQl db,which get installed with navision. Is that db is used, and customized according to client requirement.
[*] Starting with customization, what are the primary and essential things to be done(in general for all projects).

i hope this thread will help other NAV beginners too.
expecting full support from Mibuso!!! :)

To get things moving, let me ask you a question. You have been working with Navision a few months. How long do you think it should take before you are ready to work with Navision at the project level?

I am just trying to understand your expections. Basically what level of Navision skill are you aiming to develop in what time frame.

All the questions you ask have been answered many times on MiBuSo, so I want to know what you expect the answers to cover.

Also, I just want to point out that this is not the right expectation from mibuso. This forum is just a group of people posting questions and answering them. If you have specific questions, you will find a LOT of helpful people. If you want someone to simply take you by the hand and guide you through some process, this is just not the right place to be.

For support you need to go to Microsoft. For proper training you should get the appropriate training material to study. For guidance your employer should have appointed a senior to help you. Mibuso is not here for support, it is also not here for training, and it is also not here for general guidance.

The best questions on this forum are usually questions that are not covered in the training manuals or already published by Microsoft.

for me answers are a great support, valuable training and a general guidance. Then what you thought while posting... :?
my wish was only to know whether there is any general procedure or processes or a guide line to be followed while starting a fresh project....

its ook, fine, i would like to close this issue

    thanks [-(

What I mean by "mibuso is not here for support" is that there is a level of service that is guaranteed when you talk about "support" in the ERP industry. Support is what you get from an organisation in return for payment. You pay a fee, and in return you get support, with guarantees about how quickly an issue is addressed and things like that. Mibuso is a community of volunteers, people that do not get paid for their efforts. The fact that the posts that you read in here are a support to you does not mean that they are, in fact "support". There is no guarantee that you will receive an answer to all of your questions on forums like these, and there is no guarantee that this happens within a certain amount of time.

What I mean by "Mibuso is not here for training" is that for proper training you need to get training material and study it. There is absolutely no way that you can get fully trained as a NAV developer even by reading every single post on this forum. Do you learn something from these posts? Yes absolutely, I learn something almost every day. Is that "training"? No not by a long shot.

What I mean by "Mibuso is not here for general guidance" is that proper guidance should come from your seniors. The more experienced people in your company should explain to you how a project should be conducted, and what your role is. I have never read a post in any of these forums that accurately describes how a full project should be run. Any post that tries to is usually severely inadequate, and incomplete, and it would be a disservice to your customers if that is all the information that you base your knowledge on. Besides many of those general things are done differently at different companies anyway, so you really need to learn how they are done where you work.

What you need to do is stop expecting everyone else to give you all the answers, and stop getting upset with someone when they give you an answer that you don't like. Getting all pouty with your 'not talking' smiley is not going to get anywhere.
