A question regarding the certification

Hi everyone,

I am in US now and I am going to be a certified Navision developer, till now I have taken the following tests through Pearson VUE system (www.vue.com):

1. US 00-003: Gateway to Navision Attain
2. US 05-010: Navision Attain Programming.

As far as I know, I should take one more test to get my own
developer license. I was told that this test would last 8 hours and a
project should be done during the test. But I checked Pearson VUE's website(www.vue.com), the only test I could think of is US 05-011 Navision Development v. 3.60, but this test only last 125 minutes, so I am confused.

Then I sent an email to Microsoft and asked that which tests I should take to be a certified developer. They responded the following:

Certification Title Exam Requirements
Microsoft Business Solutions Certified Master-Navision Application

* Microsoft Navision Financial Series Exam

* Microsoft Navision Financial Series Exam
* Microsoft Navision Trade & Inventory Exam (TBA)
* Microsoft Navision Warehouse Management Exam
* Microsoft Navision Manufacturing Exam

*Must pass 1 out of the 4 elective exams

1. Or Microsoft Business Solutions equivalent SQL exam

** As new Microsoft MCP exams are introduced, their equivalents will be
considered as fulfillment of the Master criteria. The equivalent
Windows 2000 exams would also apply.

Note: To hold a current Master level certification all exams must be on
versions that are currently supported by Microsoft Business Solutions.

It looks like that I can't get my own developer license by completing the following tests through Person VUE?

1. US 00-003: Gateway to Navision Attain
2. US 05-010: Navision Attain Programming.
3. US 05-011: Navision Development v. 3.60

Please clarify it if you know the answer. I really appreciate any input from you.

Thanks,
omni

I was certified almost two years ago, but I had to trtavel to the Navision site, take the weeklong 'Solutions Developer' course, then take the exam at the Navision site (since you need the client installed you cant just take a web exam at a normal testing facility).

    Hope that helps.

PS I'd contact Navision directly, not Microsoft to get a better answer.

It's very confusing, and to add to the confusion, they just recently changed it too. I don't know at what point you get your own developer license, but I would say that it right after you pass the Development exam. I don't believe you have to be a master to get the license. That owuld not be a smart thing for MS, because not many people will actually study that much for work :?

    Thanks for the reply.
I looks like the answer is not certain yet.

Having just passed the test, I can tell you that is what is required for a personal developer license.
To make things more confusing the test is 125 minutes, but it is based on the old developer class (the one that had the 8 hour exam) not the new class.
Suggest you find the old manual and study it very carefully.
It builds on the programming, so you really should study and pass that first.

Yeah we've just been told that you're not even allowed to take the Development test until after you pass the Programming test, so both are required for the license.

    Hi,
I have recently completed the Navision Development Test and passed it. But I did not take the Programming Test as you have specified it to be a pre-requisite. Will I still be able to get my Developer License?

By the way, how do I apply (or do I even need to?) for the Developer License in Navision? Or do they actually will automatically send me the license file? If so, how long do I have to wait as I have waited for 2 weeks or more but there is no reply or indication whether I will be receiving the License or not...

I am not sure where to get the materials for the Development Test as I have no reference to any materials before I took the test. My test-taking is on impulse and to me, the questions are tough. Are there anyone who can let me know where I can get the materials from (in case they say that I do need to take the test again?) Because I think I passed on luck.

I don't know anymore. I was told I had to have the programming one before the development one, but then someone at my company did the development one before the programming one. I think you need both to get a personal license, but I may misunderstand that as well.

In short: nobody seems to KNOW how it works, we are all guessing.

I had to pass even more exams: Overview, Essentials, Programming, and Development.
I had a personal license. I cannot tell whether it was personal "developers" license since most of employees in our company had their own, although they were not certified developers. And we all could develop&stuff. But all these licenses expired in 2003 (when Navision SI officially joined MS) and none of us received new one, since they explained that this is not the practice anymore. Today we are all using same company’s license.

    Hi all,
Does anyone know whether who to contact within Microsoft for this issue? I need to enquire as I have a deadline to get the license.
