Average Costing - How does it work in 2.xx

My introduction to Navision was release 4.0, but I have a client who is still on 2.0 (or thereabouts), i.e. Navision Financials. They are being audited and evidently don't have any manuals, and I guess we don't either. We have to supply them with something on letterhead on how average costing works in 2.x. I found one article on partnersource that compares 2.x and 3.x, but it is a little fuzzy at some points.
If anyone has a manual and can copy the page that defines the formulas used or has a link to an article, it would be appreciated. And yes, we've advised this client to upgrade - many times.
Thanks a bunch,
Karen

It's kind of scary to be on a version that nobody knows how it works anymore. Maybe it's time for them to upgrade.0

2.0 is not that bad. It's a lot more simple than the current version.
There are basically 3 fields you need to watch out for: Adjusted Cost (Qty.), Adjusted Cost (Invoiced Qty.), and Cost Posted to G/L. The Help will give you more explanation on what those fields are for.
There is printed manuals for version 2.x that the user can purchase back then. I guess your client opted not to buy them.Confessions of a Dynamics NAV Consultant = my blog

Are you saying that NAV lost the KISS principle somewhere down the line?
Things like Reservation Mgmt. Serial/Lot tracking, MRP, and Costing?
Complexity is relative. But comparing 2.x and 3.x+, 2.x is a lot more simple. However, it's a lot more limited as a financial application, i.e. no WHM, no backdating of inventory valuation, crappy serial number tracking, etc.Confessions of a Dynamics NAV Consultant = my blog
